Since March 2012, Hedi Slimane has held the position of Creative Director for Saint Laurent Paris, not only re-imagining a failing brand, but bringing it back from the grave and to the top of the fashion world in under a year. Now in his fourth year with the brand, rumors have begun that Hedi is moving to another company, and presenting his last collection with Saint Laurent for AW16.
If this truly is his departure from Saint Laurent, he’s executed it in the most beautiful way. Key pieces from previous collections, not only from Saint Laurent, but also from his time at Dior, litter the catwalk. As a sort of homage to his life, pieces like the Dior metallic gold boots have been incorporated into Saint Laurent’s famous Santiag silhouette. The Santiag boot has become a huge piece in this collection, incorporating multiple colors, as well as being paired with slightly boot-cut raw-hem cropped jeans.
Overall this collection is a beautiful farewell to Saint Laurent. You can expect not only the collection to sell out, but items will quickly become archived, raising prices even further. Be sure to check it out when it hits retailers in the fall, and keep up on your Dior and Saint Laurent histories to get your hands on the most valuable pieces of the collection. When it does drop, you can find it here.
